Re: Mini X-ray 2

Steven Here is an experiment to compare output spectrum of chromium using Am241 and X-ray Am241 using 10 smoke detector buttons X-ray about 30 kvp MCA with better gain settings and using longer measurement time Am241 ..after 472 secs Very slow buildup with dots still widely spaced X-ray after about ...

Re: Mini X-ray 2

I forgot something
The xrf peaks were taken over 2 secs X-ray exposure time only with low MCA UCS20 gain settings
They are just a demo shot.
I am pretty sure if I increase my exposure time and use higher gain ,I will get better resolution pics.

Mini X-ray 2

Hi guys This is a improved version Instead of dry cells ,I am using a 12 volt DC transformer This was the set recommendation for my high voltage transformer . My 18 volts dry cell was saturating my transformer Now I am getting a good 30 kvp voltage Used a sensitive Biron X-ray detector which has col...

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Viktor Great... Was the calibration a cumbersome affair? Could you adjust the sensitivity while checking simultaneously at the dose rate without need to restart or anything like that? Does the dose rate still hold for lower and higher energies.? I am saying this cos it is done for 3 different kev ra...

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Viktor The seller will send you the sottware inclusive of manual,Pdsmass and registration codes if you specifically ask for it. Provided you write a positive feedback. Kinda like a small bribe. Of course you can get it from the present users here. As for the doserate variation I compared mine with E...

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

A few closing remarks to this long discussion Bluetooth connectivity type varies from one windows type to another . Usually pairing is done through the windows Bluetooth section . Then one can connect directly through the Pdsmass .No need to pair again next time. Once successfully paired it will rem...

Re: Civita di Bagnoregio - Small, Beautiful and Radioactive Town

Massimo Yes I too notice pds does fairly visible peaks on log scale. Regarding tourist sites I have noted some hot sites too. Some old ruins, museums and mountains etc may have radioactive history unwary to the tourist .Next time I will use my Pds . But gamma scouting in the presence of a group of peo...

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Stefan
Yes
These pics below were done at 600 sec acq time compared to 300 sec earlier .
Resolution appears similar
The log version identifies the peaks well.

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Some corrections .
Acquisition can be paused and saved .
Pdsmass will still display spectrum
Acquisition time can adjusted to a less than a minute if required at the expense of poor resolution.
