Re: New GS product preview

Sounds really interesting, as I´m preparing my GS1100pro into SHV with no space in the small box :) Now that the enclosure is a bit bigger it is no longer necessary to use the tiny SMA connector for the signal, so no special adaptor cable required. good point! The SMA was adapted by a SMA to BNC alr...

Re: Why is a 59keV Am241 needed to see the Cs137 32keV?

good point Steven, maybe the source is the problem... It is a professional calibration source, and it seems to be aluminum capsuled. Maybe enough that the 32keV cant pass through. And I double checked your statement, correct if I only measure the Am241 source, I do have a left peak beside the 59keV ...

Why is a 59keV Am241 needed to see the Cs137 32keV?

Hi all, I really dont understand. If I do a Cs137 Scan, I cant see the 32keV peak, thats why I wonder how to calibrate with only a prominent 662keV peak. If I place to that source as well a Am241 source, the 32keV peak is visible left to the 59keV Am241 peak, why not if I only have my Cs137 in? Same...

Re: Ra226 spectra

Just for clarification, the second marked peak is Am241 as I wanted to have a second well known peak. If I place the marker in the 662keV peak it says 5,9 something resolution... (visible on the screenshot I did) Shielding is: 6x 0,65mm Copper pipes (3,9mm in total) surounded by rainwater pipe "zinc...

Re: Ra226 spectra

With the "new" calibration I tried to figure out my D-Uranium metal stripe from a Victoreen 440 RF/C.

here my results, it is a strange looking spectrum...

Re: Ra226 spectra

As far I know for calibrating two known peaks are mandatory... otherwise interpolation is not possible. as Cs137 is a monoenergetic source it is difficult or not possible or is the 32keV peak used as well? (compared to the stored example of Cs137 spectrum : http://www.gammaspectacular.com/image/cata...

Ra226 spectra

Hi all, I was able to measure all weekend long with different sources I have. These are my first spectra after getting support from Steven - thanks again for that. I have a couple of Ra226 sources from smoke detectors and I measured all of them after each other. My calibration is not that accurate, ...

Re: finding plateau voltage

yes yes yes, Steven showed me how to adjust the pre-amp volume and showed me that my soundcard SoundBlaster X-Fi HD USB does a bad job... Now I get real spectra, still struggleing with calibration, but my day just starts, so I can run several tests now. My first impression is worth it, as 15years ag...

Ok, if there is nothing on the output, only Oscilloscope, the 200mV are gone.
I tried to copy long therm, 5s/div
only 20mV peaks... have a look to the picture...

Re: finding plateau voltage

Cath - Anode 4,47MOhm
Remember V(real) = V(display) * (a)/(a+b)
Where a = divider resistance and b = load resistor resistance
V(real) = 730V * 4,47M/4,47M + 1M
= 596V
