Re: My Fukushima report

After the fish farm we drove to a hill where on top there was a hospital. That was still in the red zone and one of the the closest points to the power plant, that could be seen from that hill with all the cranes and behind it the coast. We looked a bit around the abandoned hospital and then continu...

Re: My Fukushima report

After lunch we drove closer to the power plant to areas of Namie, Futaba and Okuma that are in the red zone. We had to pass a checkpoint and show passports to a policeman to go there. We saw empty streets and abandoned houses and shops. We passed abandoned gas stations, a big abandoned pachinko buil...

First to Koriyama station, that was very fast by Shinkansen (convenient and fast Japanese train) and f...

Re: HPGe detector back to life after long sleep

I have heard something that companys like Canberra and Ortec are working on such detectors for room temperature or maybe something with a different cooling system that does not need liquid nitrogen, sorry I don't know more about that and how that works... What is really amazing for me is that until ...

HPGe detector back to life after long sleep

Hi! I want to report about one of my favorite hobby projects that I did in the last time. A while ago I was very lucky because a friend gave an old HPGe detector to me that was not in use for several years and stored in a basement of a company. From the datasheet the detector is from 1995. It was th...

Re: Menzenschwand, Germany

Hi Jonathan, Menzenschwand is interesting, I have also been there for hunting minerals. I even found the old entrance of the mine, but it is very hidden. I have been there already three times and found it when I was there the third time. You find it if you follow the Krunkelbach river a little bit i...
