Re: Dealing with temperature drift in PRA

I am not familiar with PRA but in Beqmoni I was said that the "b" parameter of the calibration equation allows to adjust shifts in temperature. My experience tends to confirm this.

Re: Energy per Bin

Very interesting and it could be the base for a feature.

In Theremino MCA something approching is the "scale options" parameters which allows to dose fit the log scale as you wish.

This seller has affordable 0.2mm tin (Sn) foil : https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Feuille-de-meta ... Swx6pYrWJn the only downside is that only one size is proposed.

Re: Theremino MCA or Beqmoni ?

What do you find so desirable in PRA exactly ? I agree it seems to have a powerful pulse analysis engine, but it lacks feature to read the spectrum. Why no possibility to have a library of photopeaks or regions of interest ?

Re: Compton Scatter Experiment

Interesting ! How does one collimate photons ? A simple hole in a lead plate is enough, or should the hole be long enough like a tunnel to form a "cannon" ?

Re: Zinc as a substitute to copper ?

Thanks you very much, your comments make sense :) Yes my detector is built for 30 to 3000 keV so very low energy x rays are not really a concern.

Hi Steven,

When you speak about iron, do you mean pure iron, or cast iron which is iron mixed with a good quantity of carbon ? I have found cast iron chimney tubes, is that the kind of tubes you are thinking about when writing"easy to find" ?

Re: Theremino MCA or Beqmoni ?

Well, my last experience with PRA 2 ou 3 years ago was not a good experience. Setting are obscure and the user interface is a pain in th ***. I hate the multiple Windows. For me using PRA is like having to use a linux distribution and battling with settings when a Windows OS is immediately usable. I...
