Re: usb plug and play detector.

Luuk,

Nice project...

What sample rate did you select in PRA?

With later versions of PRA you should be using 384 kHz with 60 samples and your results should match your hardware MCA.

You can also try Impulse, it should be even more easy to understand.

Re: Lead Castle Improvements and Low Level Measurements

Lukas,

Thanks for posting, that's probably the most elaborate lead castle I have ever seen on this forum, congratulations and well done.

I imagine it was not cheap, interlocking lead bricks and thick copper sheets $$$

You are lifting the bar and setting a new standard 👍

Re: Analogue or Digital what is the difference ?

Marco, 1) did you notice any improvement in the fwhm using the digital ? Honestly no measurable difference in the resolution, our electronics and algorithms are now so good that our weakest link is the detector. One notable difference is the temperature probe, the GS-MAX-8000 comes with a temperatur...

Analogue or Digital what is the difference ?

After recently introducing a number of new products to my product range I want to explain the differences between analogue and digital MCA's. Analogue Gamma Spectrometer Also called sound card spectrometer, Gammaspectacular or Theremino adaptor, these have been around since around 2010, and typicall...

IMPULSE now in 👀 STEREO 👀

Hi All, I have just uploaded the latest PC and Mac versions of IMPULSE, this version includes the usual bug fixes as well as a major upgrade for coincidence counting. This involved collecting pulse shapes from both left and right channel, measuring the distortion in both channels and recording a coi...

Re: Impulse Executable for Windows

Jim,

Sorry I missed your question. The ATOM serial devices and GS-MAX devises are MCA's and typically send a complete 8192 channel spectrum to the PC once per second.

It is possible to change the mode so it sends a pulse shape, but not in the same way as the Gammaspectacular.

Re: a little help understanding the issue....

Marco, Interesting how you get better resolution with a larger Be window crystal. Frankly I long suspected that the crystal suppliers use rejects and broken crystals for the thin 1-2 mm slices, this could explain why they are always so bad. Some customers probably don't care about resolution, so the...

Re: Gamma Spectroscopy to Differentiate Radioactive Minerals

Hello I trust your real name is not NVdesert, Great question, but would you mind hopping on to the Introductions forum and giving yourself a brief introduction, it should technically be your first post.. The answer to your question is not simple, sometimes mineral samples might have different ratios...
