Re: GS-USB-PRO Sneak preview
Just to ask if I understand the coincidence feature properly. So the USB connection is connected to an audio ADC circuit which has two channels for stereo. The new device has 3.5 mm connector that can accept an audio input signal for the other channel. That signal could come from a different kind of...

Re: Bremsstrahlung from tritium
I took a spectrum with a Si-diode detector for the x-rays and found zinc K-alpha and K-beta:

Re: Neutron tube?
There has been an effort to develop a pyroelectric accelerator as a neutron source, but I cannot find a commercial supplier.
Amptek has a pyroelectric x-ray generator: http://amptek.com/products/cool-x-pyroe ... generator/

Thermal water, Bad Gastein
I was in Bad Gastein, and was a bit shocked by advertising signs for radon baths and radon gas treatments. So I took some bottles with me for analysis. This is from the Elisabeth source, with a running tap outside. The water was warm, about 40 or 50 C. The red spectrum is two days after I took the s...

Re: Raspberry Pi muon microscope
A question : Did you remove the cover glass from the CMOS sensor of the camera ? Lodovico Sorry, I had not logged in for a while. No, I did not remove anything, I just wrapped the camera in black electrical tape. Cosmic muons will penetrate anything, many meters of concrete. I used the NoIR camera ...

Re: Gamma spectrometry using eV CZT and PRA10
Are you aware of PIN diode types which are suitable for hobby gamma spectrometry ? It is difficult. I thought I had found something when I saw the spectrum on this page: http://www.carroll-ramsey.com/detect.htm So I wrote to them and they told me that it had been _very_ difficult to get that spectr...

Re: Raspberry Pi muon microscope
Interesting ! What is the position of the camera, vertical or horizontal ? Di you try to "irradiate" the pi camera with an electron source such as Sr90 ? The sensor plane is approximately vertical. Landscape or portrait does not matter now, but I will specify this when I have a stable set...

Re: Gamma spectrometry using eV CZT and PRA10
Nice. I did a test with our AmpTek diode detector if PRA would be able to achieve the resolution. I posted the comparison with the Amptek Pocket MCA a while ago: http://www.gammaspectacular.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=75&p=367#p338 About 1 % in both cases. But I have not always been able...

Raspberry Pi muon microscope
Electronics are sensitive to ionizing radiation. With silicon image sensors, it is straightforward to detect the traces left by atmospheric muons and high-energy electrons. One just needs to get access to the raw sensor data, before any noise reduction or data compression. The Raspberry Pi and its P...
