Re: Info about probe

Hi Zagros, Well it slowly pops up in my memory again, it has been a long time ago and I do forget things. It was used with a radioactive source mounted in the center of the detector the source was collimated so that the radiation went 180 Degrees away from the detector . Then the detector detected t...

Re: Info about probe

Hi Zagros, I can tell you that the detector is built around 1991/1992 so almost 30 years old, there are several hundreds of these detector build in that time. The crystal is 3” in diameter the thickness is only 3mm and the hole is around 28mm, there is a lightguide mounted to connect the 1” pmt that...

Re: making out own scintillation crystals. Is it possible?

Hi Conor, It sound great to make your own crystal, but growing a crystal is a very complicated process. I am sorry but don’t expect that it is possible to grow a crystal at home like Pavel said ,there are too many parameters you need to control, then there is the purchasing of the right materials th...

Re: Very Large Anti Compton system

Hi Guys, Thanks for all your positive reactions on my post, here some answers to your questions. Tom: No not nervous just cautious when working with it, but it was fun to build a special detector like this and special when it turned out as good as it did. Svilen: No it is not possible to use a(any) ...

Hi Steven,
I shall ask him but at the moment I know he is very busy with some projects so it may take some time
But I let you know if he is willing to do that.

Re: Help wiring a crismatec 1.25" NaI (Ti) scintillator.

Hi James,
Looking at your picture it looks like the thick white wire is HV (pos or neg?)
The coax center is signal the coax shield is ground, and the red wire is probably low power for the amplifier I would expect +5 or +12 Volt.
You could give it a try!

Re: Help wiring a crismatec 1.25" NaI (Ti) scintillator.

Hi James, I saw it on eBay ,it is probably a custom made model so it will be very difficult to get data/info about it. Best is to open the back and try to see if you can get directly to the pmt connector/wires. Then it should be possible to connect it. Some picture from the electronics might help to...
