Re: Trinitite – The Quest for Europium and More: A 17 Day Gamma Spectrum

Yes pg 6 , it is listed as median taken from 11 trinitite samples , one thing for sure, your's sample look really interesting !! Now i'll take again the spectrum from my sample but i remember only a hint of Eu peaks and not much more ,not quite interesting as yours.... Actually I have my fair share...

Re: Trinitite – The Quest for Europium and More: A 17 Day Gamma Spectrum

If you look at pg. 9 table 2 of your's linked paper, the estimated 133Ba activity concentrations recalculated to the date of explosion was 9.1 Bq/g (LMS 2010) now in 2020 it should be less than 0.1 Bq/g , i think it is well under MDA of your's setup , 137Cs to Ba133 ratio now should be near 100/1 a...

Re: Trinitite – The Quest for Europium and More: A 17 Day Gamma Spectrum

Ba133. I didn’t see this coming. When a 80 keV peak started to form I didn’t know what to make of it. I first considered the most uninteresting and conventional options: an X-Rays peak from naturally occurring Pb212 or Pb214? It’s possible, but I tested several Trinitite samples already and that pe...

Re: Davidite from South Australia

Thanks guys. Where from in south Australia? Crocker’s well or radium hill? The little card inside the package says "West Crockers Well". The sample is very beautiful, I didn't even know Davidite existed! It was a self present for Christmas. You know, bad kids get coal, good kids get Uranium!

Davidite from South Australia

Hello there, Today I am reporting on a test I’ve done last week on a sample of Davidite from South Australia. The sample weight is roughly 160 grams and as you can see it’s really beautiful. 01 - DSC07793R.jpg 02 - DSC07796R.jpg My Ranger got some 17000-17500 CPM from it which is not that impressive...

Re: Trinitite – The Quest for Europium and More: A 17 Day Gamma Spectrum

Yeah, maybe one day I will. Right now I am planning to repeat the measurement with 3 days of background + 10-12 days measuring the sample + 3 more days od background. I just finished testing a sample if Davidite, results next weekend. Right now I post the results of the other Trinitite sample I got ...

Re: Trinitite – The Quest for Europium and More: A 17 Day Gamma Spectrum

Thanks guys. As for the Samarium, the x-rays peaks from Sm are also listed among those expected from Eu152 by Nuclear Data http://nucleardata.nuclear.lu.se/toi/nuclide.asp?iZA=630152. I could have looked there (which I actually did, but I missed that bit) and save myself quite a bit of time. As for ...

Re: Th232 spectrum from today 3hr sample time

Hi Conor, nice spectrum! Svilen alreday told you about Bi212 at 727 keV. I would say the peak you have around 1600 keV looks like Ac228 at 1588.20 keV rather than K40 at 1460 keV. The first labelled Pb212 peak is at 238.6 rather than 338.3 as the label says, that's a typo I guess. I also see you hav...

Trinitite – The Quest for Europium and More: A 17 Day Gamma Spectrum

Hello there, This post is about what’s been my longest experiment so far. I’ve been trying to extract a nice spectrum from Trinitite for a while now, I got better overtime but my past attempts left me pretty unsatisfied. Cs137 and Am241 were always easy to spot, but I never found anything more than ...
