Re: CSI Detector

Here is what wiring the small TO-8 PMTs socket is like... I wired this one for most efficient power use. Notice in the pictures it now runs well at only 650 volts.

Re: CSI Detector

These Scionix CsI detectors are nice for their small size, however they use one of the more difficult sockets to find and/or wire a voltage divider for. Wiring directly to the very fragile pins is possible, but risk to the PMT is great and is not advised.

Re: CSI Detector

Based on the model number "13B38/0.3-CS-X", it appears to be a (X) customer custom 13mm diameter by 38mm long CsI (probably Tl) crystal canned together with a TO-8 Metal Package PMT (probably a R5600 or R7400). The pins are very tiny and fragile.

I'm sure Luuk could tell you more about it.

Hi Bob - I’ve seen you videos, great work. I especially love the work you did restoring that PRI 118 Royal Scintillator. What a beautiful instrument. Glad you are here. Cheers, Tom

GS-USB-PRO Review – Professional quality in every way!

I have used just about every sound card MCA driver out there, and made quite a few of my own as well, so I think my judgment of Steven’s new GS-USB-PRO is reasonably sound. In my opinion, the GS-USB-PRO is by far the best sound card MCA bias adapter on the market. From the moment I opened the box I ...

Re: Not something you see everyday..

Steven is correct, resolution at 661 is only about 14%. These detectors were not built for spectroscopy use even when new, but were part of a portal monitoring system. Bigger is not always (not even usually) better for spectroscopy use, however if you want gross counts for survey use, it could be th...

Re: 38B57 Scionix Technical Data

Hi Martin / Luuk for most of the The 38B57 detectors I sell, I strip out all original active components and replace the entire passive resistor network with new metal film SMD parts. Unless another value is specifically requested by a buyer, a 120M network is installed so that the detector will work...
