Re: New type scintilation crystal test.

Luuk - Thanks for sharing. Really nice separation on the Fukushima soil Cs-134/Cs-137, wish I could afford one. Too bad they are so hygroscopic. By the time most of those crystals get into the secondary market, they will probably be shot (unless they are in Scionix built detectors that is...). Cheer...

Re: Problem detecting K-40

Ok, that make more sense. With such a small count rate (only about 5 pcs), any noise could show as a large spike in comparison. Cheers, Tom

Re: Problem detecting K-40

Hi Jonathan - Something does not look right about the spectrum, and I would love to see one with a higher count rate. Is it possible to see a spectrum with other common sources, especially Cs137 if you can find one. If you can find a source to give you in the 250 to 350 cps rate, that would be good....

Re: Some CsI(Na) crystals for the group

Lodovico - I have saw cut CsI crystal before, but my experience is that the CsI crystal is fragile and can crumble easily, so it can be difficult but I think possible to make in a home lab. I see CsI crystals of even smaller dimensions available often, but professionally cut. I think you would have ...

Thanks, could not have done it without you and that special sauce... :) Hopefully some of the other recipients will publish their results as well.
