Re: Some CsI(Na) crystals for the group

Hi Luuk - I'm very happy you were kind enough to send me one of these crystals, it's hard to believe that only 5 people took advantage of your generous offer. I was able to build the CsI(Na) crystal into a very nice detector last weekend, and hope to post my results later this weekend. Thank you ver...

Hi Emanuel - Very nice build and documentation. Looks very professional! The link provided in your documentation to my eBay store is not the best for users outside of Italy (takes them to Italian eBay site), most users should try this direct link to my store instead: http://stores.ebay.com/The-Rad-L...

Re: My first spectrum!

Hi Jonathan
Nice work so far. Luuk of course is the detector master , especially on Scionix detectors. I have found most of the 38B57&1.5M detectors I refurbished to work best between 650 to 850 volts. Cheers, Tom

Re: Shielding for ground testing

Are you sure there would be worthwhile benefit, carrying around the extra weight of a decent shield for normal exploration. It might be easier just to subtract background and wait to you got any samples into a "lab" environment to use the shielding. Dragging around a heavy lead weight can get old re...

Re: Just some nice pictures

Hi Luuk
I'm going to have to try that on my lathe with UV light.... Very cool!
That's a great way to have fun and keep busy indoors out of the cold winter weather...
Cheers, Tom
