Re: Test with a new type scintillation crystal

Hi Steven, I am not sure about the exact price of this type of crystal but all these high resolution crystals are very expensive and it will be in the range of LaBr3/CeBr, Cllbc etc. that cost I think around 2000-3000 for a 1x1” that is just for the crystal. Yes it is very hydroscopic and needs to b...

Re: SiPM and questions

Hi Silviu, On the SiPm is a thin “plastic” layer(square plate) it is about 0.2mm thick, this is the entrance window. You have to be carefully with it, it can comes loose from the SiPm if that happens the SiPm is useless. Don’t try to peal it off and try not to put to much force on it when you apply ...

Re: Typical energy accuracy of NaI detectors ?

NaI(Tl) is non linear under 100KeV that is common knowledge, (all info availabe on the www) in that area the linearity is there really bad, but above 100KeV it is also not completely linear but much better, from about 300-400 KeV then it is really linear! So never try to calibrate NaI(Tl)with energi...

Re: Typical energy accuracy of NaI detectors ?

Hello Sebastian, NaI(Tl) is only non linear <100KeV so never use a calibration point lower <100KeV. Above 100KeV is is fairly linear but linearity is also strongly depending on used pmt, voltage divider and room temperature. So if you use a mca and make a three point (or better five or more points) ...

Re: Stilbene Detector

Hi Steven,

I checked our professional equipment for psd, the sample frequency is for one 250 and for the other 500Mhz.
So it would impossible that I can also work with a simple low(normal) frequency soundcard.

Re: Stilbene Detector

Hi Steven, I wonder if you can do psd( pulse shape discrimination) with Theremino software if that is possible that would be a very interesting option. Unfortunately I don’t work or have any experience with software mca’s so maybe there is some one who knows if it is possible? We use psd at work and...

Re: Test with a special and rare high resolution crystal!

Hi Steven, Like I wrote in my post it is not a common scintillator, the main problem for hobby use is that it needs a long shaping time 10-16 μsec. I am not sure but I don’t think that software mca’s cannot handle these long shaping times. The price won’t make you happy it is in the order of 700-800...

Re: Question about check sources

HI Martin, Buying in the USA will be the most simple and easy way if you want a callibrated source, don't think you can get easy a source here in Europe. You can buy from Tom for a decent price one or more LySo crystals they can work nice as a check source (not callibrated). If you are interested I ...
