Re: CZT Detector help

Hi Jonathan, These detectors will work already around 60 V, best is to connect the output to an oscilloscope and watch the pulses coming out if you raise the voltage to high you can see the noise getting stronger. So that gives you a good indication that you are at the breaking voltage of the crysta...

Re: Does crystal shape matter ?

Hi Steven, Been a long time when I tested a ball detector, but like it said before I was not impressed with the results If we make a ball detector in the future I shall see if I can get some time to do some tests, but that is not always possible many time detectors are shipped out a.s.a.p. so there ...

Re: Does crystal shape matter ?

Hi Steven, We build several spherical NaI(Tl) detectors for customers over the years used for all kind of experiments mostly used in universities, but unfortunately I have no data to show you! When I did some standard test with one of them I was not really impressed, not much better than a standard ...

Re: Nice effect in NaI(Tl) crysal!

Hi Steven,
I have never seen this before with a NaI(Tl) crystal and I have been working with crystals for almost 40 years so it is a real exception!
The point is that you cannot see it unless you have a bare crystal, the glass mounted in the detector will block all uv light.

Nice effect in NaI(Tl) crystal!

Hi guys,

I found an interesting effect in a 2x2"NI(Tl) crystal that I think you would like to see to.
Please read the pdf.

Hello Zagros,
I am sorry but I cannot send you pm, it is not working!
But yes I still have a few crystals left.
if intersted contact me.

Re: 2"x2" CsI(Tl) detector

Hi Steven,

That is a great looking detector you build with it, and results are better as expected, just perfect!
I hope you can make good use of the detector like Tom said it is very good for field work.

Re: 2"x2" CsI(Tl) detector

Hi Tom, Thank for your comment. To be honest it was really simple to make this detector, I did not found any problems, the used hv is : Am-241=1100V, for Co-57=1000V for Cs137=890V and for C0-60=790V. That is a litle higher than normal but that is due to the only 8 dynodes and the lower light output...

2"x2" CsI(Tl) detector

I made a detector with a CsI(Tl) 2”x2” crystal.
The results are really good and it is very simple and easy to do.
