decreasing neutron count with increasing proton current ???

We have a Canberra NP series neutron detector. We are measuring secondary neutrons as a result of proton material interactions. In our irradiation room also we have a gamma probe.

At experiments we are increasing the proton current in time. As expected gamma counts are increasing. But inversely neutron counts are decreasing.

With the increasing of proton current and gamma counts we expect to see more neutrons in room. What can be the problem?

Hi Cagri, (we seem to be missing your introduction)

You probably haven't provided enough information for anyone to answer your question. The neutron detector you have is either an He3 or B10 detector, and before you suspect the detector is faulty, it's probably bets to understand the experiment and what is going on.

What is the target material?

When you say the proton current is increasing, are you also increasing the accelerator potential?
