Hi guys,
I found an interesting effect in a 2x2"NI(Tl) crystal that I think you would like to see to.
Please read the pdf.

Re: Nice effect in NaI(Tl) crysal!
Luuk,
This is fascinating, thanks for sharing.
I have occasionally get brand new encapsulated NaI(Tl) crystals which look perfectly clear, but still have bad resolution >10% but I have never considered trapped light.

Luuk - Thanks for sharing. I did not know that afterglow could be a problem with NaI(Tl). Nice detective work. Tom

Hi Steven,
I have never seen this before with a NaI(Tl) crystal and I have been working with crystals for almost 40 years so it is a real exception!
The point is that you cannot see it unless you have a bare crystal, the glass mounted in the detector will block all uv light.
