Hello from Portland OR

Post by jbeale » 05 Oct 2023, 08:39

Hi there,

I'm from the Portland Oregon area, and I am interested in physical science measurements of many kinds, as a hobby rather than professionally. I did an undergrad radiation lab course decades ago with large and expensive equipment, some of which as I recall required cryogenic cooling. I have a few simple geiger counters, but I did not realize that gamma spectroscopy at any resolution was particularly affordable or convenient for an amateur, until I happened across the small scintillator based Radiacode 102, which has enabled my current experimental interest in the subject. I am interested in case there are other users of this device here, as I'm trying to see if it can export something compatible with tools like Sandia Labs InterSpec.

best regards,
John Beale

Hello John,

Welcome to the forum, I don't have personal experience with the Radiacode detector, but I am sure someone here will be able to help you out. Exporting the spectrum data to a text file is pretty elementary.

Good luck..

Steven

Thank you! As it turns out, the latest "bleeding edge" version of InterSpec for Windows now includes the ability to read the native Radiacode XML format directly, so there is no separate text file export necessary. Thanks go to Will Johnson at Sandia Labs for pointing that new feature out to me. https://github.com/sandialabs/InterSpec ... eding-edge
