Re: Looking to restore a yellowed, non-functional NaI(Tl) crystal
There are no stupid questions, but unfortunately Luuk, the expert on this matter reads rarely these days, as Steven mentioned above. I also don't have any practical exprience with this, but just from what I've seen and read, I think you need the crystal out of the can first. When drying it will oxid...

Re: Just another spectrum of uranium glass
Dear Milos,
The peak @34 keV is most likely from x-rays
@67 keV I guess you have Th 234 (63.28 keV)
@80 keV you have Pb fluorescence as you also proposed
@96 keV - Th 234 (92.59 keV)

Another nice idea! The temperature stabilization is a cool feature and I like how the Marinelli beaker fits on it :)
Steven, you may make one with a PMT and do a comparison study of how both the multipliers perform. But of course the compact design here is leading.

Welcome Vojislav, I am originally from Bulgaria (living in Germany) so we are neighbours ;)
What are these tests you analyze there? As Steven said, it is interesting to know more about it.

Hi Gwyddion, since the sample is not very active in compare to the background, you may consider measuring it inside a lead shielding. I guess you still don't have one, but you can check for some ideas here in the forum and start working on your next project :)

Hi Ara, please add your real name and location according to the forum rules. I'm not an expert in electronics, but I guess it is a positive HV and you don't need "additional resistors and capacitors", but maybe a charge sensitive preamplifier? How did you try to read the output?

50Ci sounds scary, but they say the battery will withstand even a gunshot...I just imagine never needing to charge my cellphone and will rather accept this solution :D Bad that they still deliver only 0.0001 Watt. Otherwise, most of my research so far is related to implantable devices for neural sti...

Your contribution was always of great value and I believe everybody here, and in the other forums you were active, highly appreciated it. You will be surely missed here.
