Re: Fukushima soil
Wow, nice spectra Svilen! Can you display the spectra also with logarithmic scale (y), if this is possible in PRA? For me it seems that first peak is 32 keV from Cs-137, the second one is probably Pb X, then backscatter and then three marked peaks. But there may be some other peaks between 796 and 1...

Re: In-situ CdZnTe Spectra from Belarus
Hi Lars, extremely intersting :) From many travelers I've heard that in Belarus are extreme tight laws and rules and you certainly don't dare to smuggle out even a gram of such soil. But it would be interesting to know, if you have any data about specific activity (Bq/kg) of specific surface activit...

Re: Another Fukushima soil sample (with coincidences)
Hi Michael,
Unfortunately I cannot see pictures anymore. Is it possible to re-post them or maybe send them via PM?
Thanks,
Alain

Re: Thermal water, Bad Gastein
Very interesting an very nice, clear spectrum (for a school book:). A friend of mine from Germany promised me to supply me a similar water from Gemany (Erzgebirge region, Schlema-Oberode, where in the DDR times there were one of the world bigest uranium mines, now they are finishing remediation of o...

Re: some more video's and pictures plastic scintillator
I remember one US research article (maybe from the 50' or 60'), where it was mentioned that tritium detectors are made from plastic scintillator turnings and shavings in conjunction with PMT. Shavings were filled into tube with glass window and gas conections and plastic was reacting on beta-radiati...

Re: Incorrect shielding
On the first view it looks that this tungsten is realy badly contaminated with Th-232, maybe during production, maybe during some experiment... But when some metal part coming from high-energy devices, you may always consider the posibility that it is being activated. Betatron is a kind of particle ...

Re: Para nut , Brazil nut
Hi Peter, maybe this topic is not alive any more, but I will reply anyway, maybe someone in the future will reading it and it would help him. I've made some measurements of Brazilian nuts also a few years ago. According to literature, these nuts should have increased radium concentration because of ...
Re: Old lead
Nice finish of rings:) How did you machined them in a lathe, regarding softness of lead? Three or four-teeth chuck?
