3D printable Marinelli beaker
Hi all, for those of you, who have access to a 3D printer, you can print your own Marinelli beakers. The design goal was to have marinelli geometry available even for small sample volumes, in the case there is only a small amount of sample material available or there is not much space inside the shi...

Re: Trinitite with Graded Shield
Hi Massimo, Surprisingly the less active (7 CPS versus 16 CPS of the other one) is the most interesting, Eu152 peaks are so strong (compared to the other) I couldn't believe my eyes. I mean, it's expected to find Eu152 in Trinitite samples, but in my previous attempts with five samples from two diff...

Re: Characterizing isotopic composition of post-accident/incident fallout
Hi Julie (?), in a post-apocalyptic scenario as you described, I agree with Steven, radiation won't be your biggest problem. And figuring out what isotopes are in the fallout will not help very much, maybe you can identify some isotopes with short half lives (i.e. in the range of a few days) and get...

Hi Taray,
Seems you're looking for the peak at 583keV from Tl208 decay which is visible in your spectrum.

Hi Martin, I'm not Steven ... Every time I visit the forum, it forces me to login again, even though I set to remember the login data. Also, during longer visits, it seems that the login expires. Could you please check the configuration and persistence of your forum cookies if they are properly set?...

Re: The Stratospheric Thread - Radiation at Aircraft Altitude
Hi Massimo,
thank you for this very informative and well prepared report!
I wonder if recording shorter spectra, say 5 to 15min, would reveal some differences in the spectra regarding altitude, latitute, day/night?

Re: The Compton edge, don't let it fool you!
Hi Steven, thank you for this interesting post! I'd like to add that with Interspec (https://www.gammaspectacular.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=504) you don't need to do the calculation by hand, you can simply show "Feature Markers" like the compton edge and move it around through the...

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector
Hi Tom,
you have probably set the wrong port number in Bluetooth Settings.
You might look at the settings in the device manager which ports have been assigned to the bluetooth serial connection.
Unfortunately I currently haven't a Win 10 machine available to give you step by step instructions.
