Re: What Is Too Much?

Third ludlum from the left has the 'old style' handle- Looks like it also has a wire for connecting a shoulder strap? Is this original or DIY? I'm looking for a solution for mine.

Re: Ex-Royal Air Force Contamination meter NIS322XA by D.A Pitman LTD

Thanks for the additional information, very interesting!

From what I've learnt thus far, I would assume that this would have been detecting 59.5keV Am241 and 129keV Pu239?

The shape of the detector crystal makes sense if this designed for lower energies.

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Many thanks Tom, I will give it another go and report back!

Incidently, I have treated myself to one of your Scionix Holland scint probes, which appears to be on it's way to me now. Looking forward to testing it out when it arrives!

Cheers,

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Sorry all, back again! Afrer a number of months of non-use, and a new laptop, I'm struggling to get the PDS-100G to connect. I can see it in windows bluetooth devices, which prompts for a PIN to pair, neither 0000 or 1234 seem to work, I get the message 'Incorrect pin'. Could anyone provide me with ...

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Hi All, Finally got things up and running, I've actually had the PDS100G since 2017, it must have been one of the first of the surplus sold on ebay? Below is a short (138 second) acquisition spectra of Am-241 - the only source I currently have to hand. https://i.imgur.com/I1xGpbu.png The peak is rec...

Re: Ex-Royal Air Force Contamination meter NIS322XA by D.A Pitman LTD

Interesting device indeed. Never seen one like this before and unfortunately I can't tell you more about it, but thanks for sharing. Is this PMT housing so easy to remove, just the springs? Isn't it light-tight? Be careful not to power up the PMT without both the housings anyway, it will destroy th...

Ex-Royal Air Force Contamination meter NIS322XA by D.A Pitman LTD

Hi All, I hope everyone is well, As promised in my introduction, below are some photos of a scintillation detector I bought on eBay a number of years ago, I've not seen another like it since. Instrument is housed in a large, custom, Zarges aluminium case. Military reference number for the kit is 6Z/...

Re: Mirion PDS 100G, Spectrometric Personal Radiation Detector

Thanks Svilen, I assumed as much! It was more curiosity than anything else. I captured a (short) acquisition from a friend who'd recently had some kind of nuclear medical procedure, they couldn't remember the name of the isotope they were given, I suspect it to be Tc-99m, but until I track down the ...

Greetings from SW England, UK!

Hi Everyone, I've lurked in these forums on and off for a while now, decided to register as I've some questions about my PDS-100G. I've also a vintage (80's?) ex-RAF contamination scintillation meter, which I'll post about in the coming days. I've never found any mention of the model online despite ...
