Forum Connectivity Issues
Hi Steven / All It looks like we can't reply to the post you made in Admin Announcements, so I'll reply here. I have found that the forum is completely inaccessible for many hours in the evening (Germany) certainly in the last few days, possibly longer. Attempts to access it give the "Please tr...

Lutetium 1g 99.95%
No contamination in this one, just a clean Lutetium spectrum with the expected Lu176 peaks, XRF from the Lead sheild and the Lutetium, and a nice sum-peak. The only thing I am not sure of is why the sum peak seems to be shifted up slightly instead of being at 509keV. Also as always with my spectra, ...

Lanthanum 100g 99.9% (with significant Ac227) contamination
So after many months of waiting, I built my main detector 63mmx63mm NaI(Tl) NOS Ukrainian crystal and I'm very pleased with the results. Now waiting for a Cs137 to get a good idea of resolution. Here is a spectrum of 100g of pure Lanthanum metal that @Gigabequerel and I ordered from Onyxmet. The exp...

Re: Unexpected good news....
Something worth looking at is OTG, I have got my GS-USB-Pro working with Android and AtomSpec, by plugging the USB directly into the phone with an OTG cable. As the device acts as a standard sound card, I imagine the same would work for an Iphone.

Re: Introduction to BeqMoni
Does anyone know if you can do a background subtraction in BeqMoni? I can load it in and view it on top, but its not quite as useful as a full subtraction..

Re: K40 Confusion - Mislabelled?
Hi Steven, You must have a lot of Potassium in your background compared to mine, In my background spectrum you can see the K40 peak at 1460 with calibration but then directly after, recording the Thorium the actinium peak blows the K40 out of the water and the K40 barely visible at all, just a sligh...

K40 Confusion - Mislabelled?
Hi Everyone! I finally received my GS-USB-PRO and thanks to Karl I have a working detector to use while the one I plan to build finally makes it out of customs... I've been recording spectra of everything I have, and everything seems to be working great. This was until my K40 peak seemed to be movin...

Re: Crystal supplier's
I got a reasonable quote from Ost for some smaller CsI(tl) crystals, but the postage was $50, which seemed a bit steep. The best option would be for some of us to get together and make a bigger order to cut costs. If anyone is interested in this, let me know.

Hamamatsu Mini PMT detector
Hi All, I picked up one of these modules on ebay cheap and I was thinking I might be able to build it into a small gamma spectrometer. Has anyone got any experience with these models, there is a lens on the front, and below that the tube seems to be curved so I am not sure of the best way to interfa...
