Re: Secondary Cosmic Rays
Hi, all, I am sick with a cold for the first time in my life since I was in 7th grade and I'm now a month away from age 70! Of course, I'm 28 years into a kidney transplant so that's probably why! I just don't get sick so now that I am I am just reading old posts on this forum and Fusor.net. I don't...

Re: Canberra HV-3105D- NIMBIN questions
I am responding 7 years later. I think that may be a record. For anyone else in the future who may be looking for schematics to the Canberra high voltage boards: good luck, I an't get them to answer emails at all. The forum at www.fusor.net has a NIM reference section with the pinout of the backplan...

Re: Polyethylene Blocks and Lead Shielding for Neutrons
Matthias, I checked one of the poly blocks that was always right up against the Po/Be source with a Geiger counter and it didn't read any differently than one that had never been included in my poly castle. So I guess I don't have enough neutrons to activate polyethylene. I am again trying Gold foil...

Re: I'm Trying to activate Gold Foil
I'm not sure that I understand. I really do appreciate the helpful diagrams. Is what you are describing by the hour or by the half-life of the gold? I can use the run numbers I already have saved as .pls? I tried the ROI by using 'B' and 'E' around the 411 peak area. Then I changed the setting to 0 ...

I'm Trying to activate Gold Foil
I'm new to this. Please let me know if I violate any rules or conventions whether written or unwritten. I'm trying to activate some Thai Gold foil with an Amstat NucleSpot Static Eliminator plus Beryllium sheet Neutron source. In addition to the NucleSpot, I have an Americium 241 smoke detector mast...

Re: Is there SW to Label the Peaks with the Isotope's Name
I re-read my post's questions and I think I wasn't clear. I want some SW to label the peaks for me, not let me label the peaks. My Radiacode 101 has some nice Russian PC SW that does that. Apparently it does it on the phone version of the SW too, but I don't have that. I am inserting a screen shot o...

Polyethylene Blocks and Lead Shielding for Neutrons
I want to activate small amounts of elements with small amounts of Neutrons from an Amstat Nuclespot and Beryllium sheet neutron source. Using a custom-built-by-Steven neutron detector consisting of an SI19N He3 tube and one of his Schmitt trigger boards in a nice case that he made for me, I am pret...

Please Critique my Lead Castle Build Plan
Hi all, I have some ideas and would like to hear other people's opinions. I have nine 2"x4"x8" Lead bricks and four 25 pound bags of #8 shot. I looked online and I think each lead shot bag contains 164,000 lead spheres. I also have some 18 ga Pewter sheet pieces: six 4"x4" a...

Is there SW to Label the Peaks with the Isotope's Name
I am just starting out and seem to have questions mostly about fundamental things. I just got one of Steven's 2" NaI(Tl) detectors and a GS-PRO-V5. I am learning to use the PRA SW. Is there any SW I can use to label the peaks that are found in the histogram? I started out with a Radiacode 101 a...

Re: Gold 198 and Radiacode 101
Thank you for your answers. I am going to bake my 2 gram gold bar for a few days with my Po/Be Amstat/Beryllium source again. The difference this time being that I bought a real 2" spectrometer outfit from Steven. I just got it up and running and I think I calibrated it with Cs137, Barium133, a...
