Instead of burning Radpads ,there is another option used in OT .Barium sulphate walls are used instead of leaded walls.A mixture of barium sulphate with cement in the right amounts will do fine.Perhaps one can make a nice castle with it.My contractor designated to make my new OT complex supplied me with a few kilos of barium sulphate.By itself it is not a shield but with cement it is strong shield.Does not to very thick if one is using lead together.
I don't know how to mix cement so I gave up.

Taray,
Using Barium Sulphate in cement soulds interesting, the only problem I foresee is finding sand with low background.
Mixing cement is not rocket science, sand cement and water in sensible proportions is all you need, but I wonder if one could replace the sand with Aluminium Oxide. 1/3 Aluminium oxide, 1/3 Barium Sulphate and 1/3 cement might work.

As a shield it may work.Structural strength without sand I am not sure.
Thanks
