Hi Steven,
i honestly don't know how the thin crystals are selected. unfortunately Scionix does not produce big crystals with Be window, which should be the best solutions. Only OST produces LaBr of 25-38mm with Be window but LaBr is not good under 50kev so i don't know if makes a lot a sense.
