Luuk,

It was painful just reading your report, I can't imagine how the client must feel when his 2x2x2" CeBr3 turns into a pile of dust....

Hi Luuk,

that was a very interesting and also shocking read. Do you know why this happens specifically with CeBr3?

Hi Steven,
Yes and it was not one but 3 detectors, but these things happen.

Hi Matthias,
I don't know why it why it happens with these crystals and is not just CeBr3 but also LaBr3 and probably also with other high resolution crystal.

Hi Luuk,
>The oxidation from NaI(Tl) can be removed simply by first letting the crystal dry

What do you mean in "let crystal dry"?
Thanks!

Hello Maxim,
To dry a NaI(Tl) crystal you will need a dry-box or dry-room with a humidity <3%.
If you look in previous post I wrote I think there is more info on refurbishing a crystal/detector.
About your questions about specific materials used to glue, couple or seal crystals all that information is unfortunately part of; Company Confidentiality.
