Hi Guys,
I had a query from someone asking about PIPS detectors, but I don't have any experience with these myself.
If anyone has worked with these, I would like to know what the typical bias voltage would be and how the pulse looks (height, length).
Thanks..
Steven
Does anyone have experience with PIPS detectors?

Re: Does anyone have experience with PIPS detectors?
Hi Steven,
I have not work experience, but we have one PIPS detector in the lab, unfortunately the company does not want to help us to complete old device and the new one is too much in cost. The PIPS needs any pre-amplifier and amplifier. I will searching any information for you, I will have a time.
You can find any info here, I hope: http://www.canberra.com/products/detect ... ectors.asp

Thanks Vit,
I found a range of suggested bias voltages, quite low in the region < 100V, they also suggest 1µs pulse shaping, which means it is quite fast for sound cards. Nothing was mentioned about pulse height. I agree it looks like one needs a relatively fast preamplifier.
