This was a team effort, Max designed the circuit and I designed the enclosure and the result is quite spectacular (pun intended), a really compact high quality gamma spectrometer with great resolution and practical shape.

SiPM technology is still more expensive than PMT's, which adds to the cost, but it does have advantages such as low sensitivity to magnetic fields, so it does not need magnetic shielding.

Another nice idea! The temperature stabilization is a cool feature and I like how the Marinelli beaker fits on it :)
Steven, you may make one with a PMT and do a comparison study of how both the multipliers perform. But of course the compact design here is leading.
