Hello everybody! I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I am a Researcher in public Institute of Radiation Protection, Metrology and Dosimetry of Radiation here. I've been working with gamma rays spectrometry since 2015, mainly with determination of activity concentration of natural and artificial radionuclides in environmental and food samples.
Nowadays I am focusing in the quality assurance of the results, implementing ISO 17025 in the lab were I work.

Hello Fernando,

Welcome to the forum, you have come to the right place..

I have heard that the beach sand in Rio is quite radioactive, is this true?

Welcome!
I've recently joined too, and also have worked with laboratory quality assurance and ISO/IEC 17025; originally in a UKAS accredited radchem lab; then I was a technical lead for deploying 17025 and achieving accreditation for in-situ gamma spec measurement service provision for another company, and I'm now applying the same principles within a national research facility - so let me know if you want to discuss anything 17025 related!
