( Yes, like the Billy Joel Song )

I am a lapsed / wannabe physics person who was seduced by the fame and glory of IT systems administration in higher education. FFWD 30 years, and I still work in the basement but "dabble" as a serial hobbiest, I guess. I have a collection of "cool science stuff" including fixing up old geiger counters / scalers and some of the usual radioactive home-goods of the 1930s.

However what brings me here is a mystery. One that can be solved definitively by gamma spec. The question I'm trying to answer is such a "The 5G is in my eyeballs" wack-a-doodle sounding thing that I hesitate to elaborate. But suffice to say, I'm having to be a quick study in radiation metrology.

I do a lot of technical photography, micro-photography, and have written some FOSS things to make it easier to get HUGIN to deal with highly repetitive patterns in these images. I also used to be a forum sysop and moderator for a decade - so I know when to shut up - which is right about... now.
