Emergency Sonar Beacons

Hi Everyone

Does anyone here know if the Titan sub is equipped with an emergency sonar beacon?

Can an emergency sonar beacon at the bottom of the ocean be accurately located from the surface?

I think it should be compulsory for all human-occupied subs, no matter how big or small, to be equipped with an emergency sonar beacon.

I also think that every emergency sonar beacon should have a button on it which must be pressed perhaps every half hour or so in order to prevent it from automatically activating. This way, if the entire crew becomes incapacitated for any reason, it will automatically become active.

Kind regards

Tim

Tim,

I have no idea, but what has happened to the Titan is a tragic accident and I feel for the crew and passengers. There will no doubt be a full investigation with a bunch of recommendations. When everything electronic fails one needs a failsafe manual solution.
