Hello!
I am an enthusiastic mushroom picker. This autumn I picked some Hygrophorus hypothejus mushrooms (known as olive-brown waxy cap or herald of the winter) for the first time. I planned to fry them with butter and onion but then I found an information that this species is a stong cesium absorber. Thus, the mushrooms from my basked became a laboratory specimen :)
The dried specimen weighed 60 g. I used the HDS-101 device, the measurement was taken in a lead house (I showed it some time ago).
The mushrooms were picked in the west of Poland where the Chernobyl contamination was pretty small. However, there is quite a lot Cs-137 there.
Interestingly, Cs-137 from the specimen is easily identifable even outside the lead house.
