Surface Pro 3

Post by hotmuon » 03 Jul 2015, 11:14

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience using a Surface Pro 3 and it's built in audio input as a way to capture pulses from a gammaspectacular. Any suggestions for a good portable usb input?

Thanks,
Bruce

Bruce,

Have not personally tried PRA on Windows 8, but I imagine it should work. You will need an external USB sound card, there are many to choose from, but always sensible to buy a good one, and preferably one that samples at 96 kHz.

PS: Please give yourself an introduction in the intro forum.

As per Steven's reply an external sound card is the way to go, my new gaming laptop sound card only samples at 48k 16 bit and moving to an ASUS U7 external USB 192k 24 bit sound card gave a noticeable improvement. Also PRA does work well on win 8.1.

Thank you for the advice. I just got a U7 today and I should have some testing done tonight. I'll post an introduction later.

Thanks again,
Bruce
