Not depressed, my GS-1100 is working fine!
It did have some problems, after a short I made, but today everything is working fine.
I did buy a ugly smal green glass bowl, it just fits the lead castle and that does give a nice spectrum...
Cheers, Boris.
Depression uranium glass
Re: Depression uranium glass
Note:
Isotope identification is not correct, the energies are calibrated correct.
The first right peak should probably be U238.
The next one cannot be U236
Any suggestion is more than welcome!
Cheers, Boris

Re: Depression uranium glass
Hello Boris,
I have old glases from Schott Germany. I think the identification is ok.

Re: Depression uranium glass
I have a small collection of uranium glass, but I've not tried to collect a spectrum from any of it. Seems I know what my next project will be.

Re: Depression uranium glass
Great to see the fingerprints match Peter!
that´s is a match...and Geoff...wow...that´s a mighty stack of uranium glass, cool with the black-lights....
the Vaseline glass is produced pre and past WW2, (I wonder if past WW2 glass has any U235, depending on or the ore is processed or not?)
so if you compare late US glass with pre war glass, i wonder if you seen any differences in the spectrogram...
Thank for the post !
Cheers, Boris.

Re: Depression uranium glass
Thanks! I have glass from late 19th century through late 20th century. I'll have to figure out a way to test though, my castle is more studio apartment with an 80 cm^3 sample holder. I might have to build a temporary shield with lead bricks.

and a spec with one uranglass to compare with the other test objects.

Great work Peter,
So can we conclude that the Uo2 and the scott VG3 is missing the thorium234 peak around 60 KeV?
and this would not be possible with the other Th234 peak present...or its part of the xrf of the lead castle?
Cheers, Boris.
