Way to go Steve! Nice new sight!!!
Sorry Karl, I did not see you post about names until too late. But it's me Tom Hall from the sunny state of Florida USA. Many people know me from my sales of scintillator kits PMTs, and the like. Members are always welcome to contact me direct for a better price if they see something listed in the usual place.

Well, I'm here Florida, surrounded by water on most sides. I like fishing, being on and under the water, and outdoors in general. Kayaking with friends and/or family in my Swiss made fiberglass Turing yak is the bees knees. Lots of great places here with plenty of wildlife (read alligators and crocks) and great tropical fauna.

I first gained an interest in ionizing radiation in the early 90s, working as a computer consultant for a major medical company here in Florida. When they relocated a local division, they gave me a bunch of Ludlum and other Geiger gear. It wasn't until Fukushima that I became more serious about the hobby though. Thanks to Steve and the first Gamma Spectacular for making the hobby a whole lot more interesting and affordable to a whole lot of folks!!! Of course a great thanks also goes out to Marek Dolleiser for bringing sound card spectroscopy to the masses with his PRA software.

Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom,

You might be better known as iRad anyway :)

Welcome to the forum, great to have someone with your experience you on board, feel free to use the trading post for your bits and pieces, I expect we will have quite a lot of DIY guys here. After all it's pretty hard to imagine anyone in radiation detection without a soldering iron. See you around..

Steven

Hey Tom! I recently bought one of your BGO detectors. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get some time to sit down and make a spectrum with it.

Hi Tom!

Great to have you on board!

For those who might have missed it, Tom sells many intersting items on Ebay under "iRad inc" which are definitely worth looking into. When I started out, I bought my first PMT + accessories from Tom and it turned out to be a real "killer" probe with supreme resolution. Can't go wrong when shopping from Tom!

I still have some vision of one day buying a refurbished ludlum from you....one day...'
