Thank you for your suggestion, and also for the compliment! :)

Although I'm rather new to gamma spectroscopy, I've spent ages playing with various (usually DIYed) Geiger counters (nothing too fancy because of my somewhat tight budget). I only have a nice pancake probe, two alpha sensitive Phillips tubes, and a handful of some basic cheap ones.

Those VacuTec tubes look quite nice, something like a 70013 or 70031 should work flawlessly for this purpose, I think. And getting a pretty good tube for ~30 Euros is already a decent deal IMO.

I'm currently still working on my GS setup and designing my shielding, but once I'm done with that, I'd like to finally build a proper outdoor radiation monitoring station. With good tube, weatherproof enclosure, internet connection and everything...
