Some days ago i've taken a 67000s background in my lead castle with a minimum 5,5cm of lead all round.
3"x3" Luuk detector
210Pb 46,5keV, 40K 1460keV, 75-85keV Pb-X-rays lines peaks and 511keV annihlation peak from high energy gamma are the most prominents in the spectra.

Hi Cicastol, interesting spectra.
When you'll be ready, could you please post some spectra with the liner inside the castle?
It should be interesting compare the spectrum with and without copper, pewter, lucite (or PVC) ecc.
Thank you.

Ciao Pilgrim,
actually my lead shield don't have any liner inside, maybe a 5mm Copper could be future upgrade, you could find some spectra taken with and without different lining materials on this forum.

Wow, quite a big annihilation peak just from background, I always find it fascinating to see these relatively uncommon events show up on our spectra.

I reported some differences with and without copper/lucite . Hope this may be interesting for you.

Yes, very interesting, thank you Max!
These days I'm starting to collect as more informations as I can because I'm going to make my own lead castle, and I'd like to get off on the right foot.
