Wow, love those twin Co60 peaks! What energy is the large peak in the center of the background test?

That is the K-40 peak the peak on the right is the Th228.

Those are impressive crystals, thanks for sharing. As you suggest very impractical for most amateurs, being so large, the BG count rate would saturate the average sound card system.

Yes, a lot to see in a short time, but that is also the downside, it need lots and lots(tons) of lead to shield it.

I imagine these would be good for large area mineral mapping. Are they intended to be used together as an array?

Hi Steven,
Yes, they sometimes use them mounted under a small plane or a truck(4x4) for mineral mapping mostly not more than two detectors.
they are perfect for it ,real high efficient detectors.
