Bought myself a new oscilloscope last week (RIGOL DS1054Z https://www.rigolna.com/products/digita ... pes/1000z/), with a bit higher specs than my old one, it's taking me a bit of time to learn what all the functions are and how to use them, but it's an essential tool for our work.
I figured out how use the trigger function to catch 2.2 µs muon decays, which is quite entertaining to watch while I sit and solder circuit boards, I catch one every 10-15 minutes :)
This scope also has an easy screen capture function which saves the screen as an image on a USB disc every time I press the print button.
To catch these muon decays you need a short pulse, so here I have connected the raw signal output straight to the scope via a Tee and a 50 Ohm termination cap, the 50 ohm termination discharges the coupling capacitor in about 1 µs.
For obvious reasons one can't capture these short lived events with a PC sound card as the gaps between sample points are far to wide.
If anyone is interested in a budget scope I listed my old one here: http://www.gammaspectacular.com/gamma-s ... n-pds5022s

Nice!
Own a older rigol model my self, and for the price they make you can't complain :) but i feel i have to upgrade to a 4ch model soon.
Be sure to check out *.wfm capture with the rigol, its acutally saving the puls as wave form and can be converted to csv.

Nice. I do have digital oscilloscopes, but for regular work I still find myself turning to my trusty workhorse, and old analog Hitachi scope that has served me well for many years.

Very nice! Here's mine. First I have to restore it...... A TEKTRONIX 531A with about 80 tubes not counting neons and tubes in the plugins.

Hello Bob,
Welcome to the forum, that's an impressive scope you have there, not sure if it would fit on my bench :D.
I subscribed to your youtube channel, maybe one day my GS will be in someones museum too...
