PRA on Windows 11.0

Post by Sesselmann » 23 Jun 2024, 18:51

Has anyone had a chance to test PRA on Windows 11.0 ?

A client running Windows 11.0 has brought to my attention that PRA crashes on startup, but I don't have a computer to try it on.

If someone out there is already running Windows 11, and doesn't mind trying it, please let me know if you have the same issue.

A crash log would be useful if it fails.

Thanks in advance..

I was able to run PRA just fine on a HP laptop running Win11 home. I updated the Win11 software, then downloaded the PRA directly from your GammaSpectacular website (I downloaded and installed this version "PRA installer for Windows 64 bit version 25.0.2.0"). I am using a GS-Pro-V5 with a 38x38 mm NaI detector from iRad (or now RadLab). Pulse shaping was done with a Cs-137 source. The source-detector distance was adjusted to yield about 450 counts / sec. The spectrum looks normal. I am doing a 20 min count; then I will do a 20 min background count. No crashes.

I'm running the latest version of PRA [25.0.2.0, 64 bit] on Windows 11 running under Parallels Desktop on macOS (Mac Studio) with no problems. But I'm not acquiring data, just viewing and processing .pls files.
