Atom Tag — Personal Dosimeter

Atom Tag is a compact radiation detector and dosimeter equipped with a Geiger-Müller tube.

Now available in two models: Standard and Energy Compensated.

The Atom Tag is designed for radiation monitoring of land, buildings, vehicles, and construction materials. It can also be used for gamma and X-ray measurements in physical experiments and educational applications.

Each Atom Tag includes a Geiger-Müller tube, onboard electronics, a Bluetooth 4.0 wireless interface, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Readings are transmitted to a smartphone or tablet, where they are displayed using a free companion app available from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

Users can program up to three dose rate and accumulated dose thresholds, each with configurable alarms (sound and/or vibration). The accumulated dose is stored continuously—even when operating in standalone mode—and can be retrieved via wireless connection. A single app can monitor multiple Atom Tags simultaneously.

To charge the internal lithium-ion battery, use the original charging cable connected to a USB port.

Before You Start

Inspect your Atom Tag for physical damage before use. The device is not waterproof—keep it away from rain and moisture. If moisture enters the unit, stop using it immediately, switch it off, and allow it to dry completely.

Do not clean with solvents. Use a soft cloth if necessary. Do not apply force or expose the Atom Tag to mechanical shock. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself; contact the manufacturer for service. Unauthorized repairs void the warranty.

Connecting and Measuring Radiation

The Atom Tag powers on automatically when connected to a charger. Charge for at least 3 hours before first use.

Install the Atom Tag application of your choice from the App Store or Google Play.

Operating Modes

The Atom Tag operates in two main modes: Search Mode and Measurement Mode. You can switch between these modes within the app. If your smartphone enters sleep mode, the connection remains active and ongoing measurements continue.

Search Mode

Search Mode provides fast response to changes in radiation levels at the cost of reduced accuracy. You can choose between “Tag,” “Balanced,” and “Accurate” modes in the app, depending on your needs.

Measurement Mode

In Measurement Mode, the Atom Tag continuously collects data until you press the “Reset” button. The app displays the current statistical error, which decreases over time. For the best accuracy, keep the device still during measurements.

To detect weak sources, compare dose rates measured near the source with background readings. Note that statistical accuracy improves by the square-root rule: to double accuracy, measure for four times longer.

Settings

The Atom Tag app allows you to select measurement units, configure dose and alarm thresholds, and adjust other parameters. Updates and new features are released regularly—please keep your app up to date.
